TURRET REWIND SPLICE & TENSION CONTROL (December 18, 2000 Rochester, NH, USA) -- Tension Controls manufacturer Dover Flexo Electronics, Inc, announces the release of the SteadyWebTM Splicer tension controller. For manufacturers using a continuous web process which employs either an electric clutch or an AC/DC motor drive on a turret rewind station, this multi-function control unit automates a flying splice sequence while maintaining a preset tension setting.
Web tension is measured by tension transducers and displayed on an analog meter that reads actual tension. Tension can be maintained automatically, regardless of changes in web speed and roll diameter, once the operator has set a desired tension value. A tracking circuit allows bumpless switching between auto and manual drive modes. During the splice operation, the SteadyWeb™ Splicer allows complete automatic coordination of turret rotation, knife firing, core speed matching, and tension control all at the touch of one button. The controller provides configuration flexibility with modular plug-in
option cards. This allows for easy functional upgrade at a reasonable price.
